Early this morning, deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on Tongue Lane in rural Washington County. Upon arrival, they located 22-year-old Sergio Saucedo-Gaytan of Hillsboro. He was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday July 2, 2011 at 6:20 am, Washington County Sheriff's Deputies received a call reporting that a pick-up truck hit a power pole, rolled and came to rest in a field. Upon arrival, deputies found Mr. Saucedo-Gaytan had been thrown from his truck and received fatal injuries to his head.
The Washington County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART) was called to the scene to investigate. The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Saucedo-Gaytan was traveling east in a 1994 Chevy Pick up on Tongue Lane when he crossed the centerline into the opposite shoulder. He appears to have steered to correct and lost control of the truck. The truck struck a power pole, rolled twice and Mr. Saucedo-Gayton was ejected from the truck. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
Tongue Lane was closed for several hours while Deputies investigated the crash.
The investigation is on going, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The next of kin have been notified.
