Sex Crimes Detectives Arrest 26-Year-Old Man for a Downtown Sexual Assault (Photo)

Today, Tuesday February 18, 2014, Portland Police Bureau Sex Crimes Unit detectives arrested 26-year-old Othman Mohammed Al-Oraini in connection with a February 3 sexual assault.
Al-Oraini was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Attempted Rape in the First Degree and Sex Abuse in the First Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday.
This investigation started on February 3, 2014, at approximately 11:00 p.m., when a 19-year-old woman reported to police that a known person sexually assaulted her at a Southwest Portland residential building near the Portland State University campus. The incident did not occur on Portland State property.
The victim and the suspect are both students at Portland State.
PSU Public Safety assisted the Police Bureau with this investigation, resulting in the suspect's identification and eventual arrest.
