Dear Paige Turner
NumbersUSA and our several million followers clearly won the Battle of August!
Our activists showed up at over 400 town hall meetings this summer, keeping the voter pressure on, while the amnesty supporters had to bus in non-voter protestors.
By having actual constituents show up to influence their own Member of Congress, our members made a big impression. Most GOP Congressmen repeated assurances that they opposed any Amnesty. Virtually all sources agree that the open borders people made little to no headway during August.
Result? Our opponents have grown desperate! They're arranging for tens of thousands of illegal aliens to hit streets in 40+ cities on October 5. They're planning to bus in hundreds of buses to Washington alone. They want to use public relations and street theater to blackmail the House of Representatives into caving in on Amnesty.
Just yesterday, several illegal aliens chained themselves to the White House fence, daring the police to arrest them. (Naturally, the police obligated the demonstrators, but will this administration really deport these confessed lawbreakers?)
Meanwhile, just eight miles away from the U.S. Capitol Building,10,000 job seekers lined up this week hoping to get one of the 900 job openings at a new shopping mall. How eager are those people to have immigration doubled?
The Billionaires who want to double immigration numbers are also putting personal pressure on Congress. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder and the champion of cheap labor, is in D.C. right now, meeting with Democratic and Republican House leaders. Zuckerberg is meeting with John Boehner as I write this on Thursday.
Zuckerberg's message? Big Business must have more cheap workers! One hundred large corporations have signed a letter to Congress calling for higher immigration--they say they need workers. Yet many of the largest of those corporations have laid off thousands of workers this year.
And the Billionaires have financed an army of 1,770 professional lobbyists to apply the squeeze to Congress. Their budget is virtually unlimited. Guess who's the biggest financial backer of the open borders lobby--George Soros!
So will all this pressure make House members go wobbly on us?
Because of your support and activism, we've been able to defeat every legislative amnesty in this century. Butthis time, our opponentsare even better funded and better organized than before. Defeating amnesty this time is our greatest challenge ever.
As it stands now, the other side doesn't have the support to force action by the House of Representatives...
... because you went to hundreds of town hall meetings.
... because you called Congress hundreds of thousands of times.
... because you sent millions of faxes.
Together, we have done so much, but our gravest challenge lies ahead. It would be so terrible if we've fought together so many years and spent so much effort, only to have it all undone by a quick
