Beaverton Police Department - 06/27/13
On June 17th Beaverton Police were notified that a 6 month old baby girl had been brought to the doctor for examination regarding the girls arm. X-rays revealed that the baby had a fractured arm that was believed to be caused by abuse. The child was taken into protective custody and Beaverton Detectives responded to conduct an investigation. As further examination and additional X-rays were completed it was determined that there were actually 6 fractures to the baby girl that were in various stages of healing. The 6 fractures were found in both arms and one leg. Both the 16 year old mother and 18 year old father, as well as other family members with access to the baby, were interviewed by Beaverton Detectives and no reason for the injury was initially revealed.
On June 26th, the baby's father, 18 year old Cesar Serrano Ramirez was interviewed again. The evidence gathered during the investigation as well as during the final interview revealed that Ramirez had caused the injuries. Ramirez was arrested at the conclusion of the interview. It was also determined that the injuries were caused while the baby was at a home in Gresham and not in Beaverton, making the venue Multnomah County. Ramirez was lodged in the Multnomah County jail on two counts of Assault I and Criminal Mistreatment I.
