Gresham, Ore. - At
4:05 PM on September 22, 2013, Gresham Police and medical personnel responded to
a report of a fatal crash that had occurred on the ramp to westbound I-84 from
NE 181st avenue. The deceased passenger has been identified as 11-year-old

the ramp. During the crash Yoselyn Escobar-Vargas was ejected from the van,
resulting in fatal injuries. It still hasn't been determined if she was using
safety restraints and whether they were in proper working condition or not.
The Vehicular Crimes Team (VCT) is continuing their investigation at this time. Investigators ask that if there were any witnesses to the crash, or citizens that rendered any aid to the occupants of the van, that haven't spoken to police about their involvement to please contact the Gresham Police Department.
