Two inmates walked away Thursday night from Mill Creek Correctional Facility in Salem. Oregon State Police is investigating.

MCCF staff discovered inmates Daryl Manuel Hernandez and Franco Armando Moreno missing at approximately 10:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18. Hernandez is a 34-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Moreno is a 25-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Both inmates were last seen wearing blue jeans with the word "inmate" and the DOC logo stenciled on the knee in orange (or red shorts), and a blue t-shirt with the word "inmate" and the DOC logo stenciled in orange on the front and back.

Hernandez entered DOC custody on Oct. 18, 2012, on one count of delivering marijuana and one count of child neglect out of Marion County. His earliest release date is July 25, 2015. Moreno entered DOC custody on Jan. 10, 2012, on three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Marion County. His earliest release date is March 11, 2014.

Mill Creek Correctional Facility (MCCF) is a minimum-security prison located five miles southeast of Salem that houses approximately 280 inmates who are within four year of release. It primarily provides education and work opportunities for adults in custody.

07/21/13:

The victims of yesterday evening's shooting have been identified. Marco A. Vargas, 18, of Salem was the driver. His passenger was identified as Carlos Saucedo, 18, of Salem. Both have been released from the Salem hospital following treatment for their wounds.

The suspect vehicle, a white older model Buick, is reported to have gray interior, four doors and non-tinted windows.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a medium to bigger build white or light skinned Hispanic male, 17 to 20 years old, with black hair, unknown eye color. He was wearing a black and grey hat with "SOX" in white on front.

The passenger is a white or light skinned Hispanic male with a skinny build, 17 to 20 years old, with black hair, dark, small close together eyes and clean shaven face. He was wearing black t-shirt with black and grey hat with white letter "B" on front.

Details of the altercation are not being released at this time; nor is information about the firearm used.

07/20/13:

Two people were treated at the Salem Hospital following a shooting that occurred at about 6:39pm, Saturday. The Salem Police Department received the initial call, but it was later determined that the shooting occurred in the county's jurisdiction.

Deputies determined that the shooting happened on Lancaster Drive SE, near Durbin Avenue SE, in Salem. It followed an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles; one occupant fired at the other vehicle, striking both victims.

Marion County Detectives are investigating and talking with the victims and witnesses. Further details of the shooting are not available for release at this time.

The victims, both males in their 20's, are being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Their names are not available at this time.

There were two suspects in the suspect vehicle. The car was described as an older model white Buick. One suspect was described as a white male, wearing a black hat. No description on the second male in the vehicle is available.

The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Lancaster Drive, near the Taco Bell.
