Hillsboro Police Search For Suspected Impaired Driver

On 12/13/14 at 8:40 AM Hillsboro police patrol officers were alerted to a possible DUI driver by a motorist in the area of NE Arrington Rd and Cornell. The witness reported that a man
driving a Buick 4-dr was driving very erratically in the area. A Hillsboro police patrol officer observed the vehicle in that area driving all over the road and disregarding traffic control devices.

The officer followed the Buick and observed the driver failing to stop at traffic lights, stop signs and driving recklessly with no regard for safety. The driver
failed to yield to the officer and stop. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver drove at the patrol car and clipped the front right corner of the patrol causing minor damage. The officer continued to attempt to stop the car as it drove approx three miles through SE Hillsboro where it eventually came to a dead end residential street near SE Tamango St and SE Wenlock St. The suspect drove into a field in the area and then fled on foot. 

Officers initiated a K-9 track, searching for the suspect with negative results.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, mid 30's, 5' 8" tall, 160 lbs, dark hair, wearing dark jeans and a dark jacket. The suspect remains at large and faces numerous driving charges, reckless endangering, hit and run, escape and
elude. 


No persons were injured during this incident.

Chinaman Killed at Lucky Fortune Restaurent; Roadkill it happens

the question is did the Chinaman come to the US legally? Did he import dozens of relatives illegally, did he violate labor laws, wage laws, health laws? Probably.

Salem Police Officer Kyle Stalder developed information that 26 year old Brandon Paine-Smith was staying at a residence in the 500 block of 22nd St SE. Paine-Smith was wanted for the motor vehicle crash on February 14th in the parking lot of the Lucky Fortune Restaurant, 1401 Lancaster Dr NE. That crash killed 68 year old Kow Cheung-Lin, an owner of the business who was standing in the parking lot.

Officers from the Salem Police Department surrounded the residence on 22nd St SE at about 3:45 this morning and after brief negotiations, Paine-Smith was taken into custody without incident. The resident there, 46 year old Kimberly Doan was arrested for Hindering Prosecution.

Paine-Smith has been charged with Manslaughter I, Assault II, Failure to Perform the Duties of Driver to Injured Persons, and Parole Violation. He has been lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility.

The Salem Police Department is still looking for 20 year old Kayla Jo Holden. Holden was a passenger with Paine-Smith when they fled the Lucky Fortune. Holden is described as a white female, 5'04", 155 pounds, with brown shoulder length hair that had been dyed red and hazel eyes. Holden has a felony warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
