This is a special message for NumbersUSA members in Colorado.
Dear Colorado activist,
HB 2787, a bill that gives taxpayer-subsidized in-state tuition benefits to illegal aliens, is slated for a hearing in the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee on Feb. 13th. The group Oregonians for Immigration Reform says the bill will give each illegal alien a $20,000 per year benefit. If you live in the Salem area, or can travel there, we encourage you to testify at the hearing.
What: House Higher Education Committee hearing on in-state tuition bill
When: Wednesday, February 13 - 8 a.m.

Irrespective of whether you can attend the hearing, please contact the committee members, House Speaker Tina Kotek, and your Representative and ask them to oppose HB 2787.

"Please vote NO on HB 2787, the bill giving in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. At a time when higher education is facing severe cuts in programs, and tuition-fee increases for U.S. citizens, HB 2787 makes no sense.
It is outrageous to subsidize the education of illegal immigrants. Among other things, it would reduce tuition revenue to the Oregon university system by millions of dollars a year and result in increased taxes. This is an open-ended, $20,000 per year benefit for every illegal-immigrant student that will attract more to Oregon.
There are a fixed number of classroom seats so this bill will foreclose the graduation potential of citizens and legal residents who are turned away."
