June 17, 2013 This is part of an email that I received from a listener today, I cannot authenticate the veracity of the information, nor can I divulge the source but, it does raise some very good questions about the hiring practices of one of the largest employers in Oregon, or better yet, one of the largest employers in Oregon that doesn’t seem to employ actual Oregonians. After leaving Oregon for another job for quite a few years, I recently returned to Oregon and I got a contract position at Intel. The pay was just okay but it was a job. After my contract has been extended a few times I had a meet and greet with my recruiter. I remarked to her that the racial/nationality makeup at Intel had changed. I recalled how in the 90s I saw a few entire groups from India. It seemed worse now. Two out of three cubes have a name that clearly is not an American name posted on it. For several months I had a desk near a major walkway where I heard people chatting as they walked by and I remarked to my recruiter that I was stunned that I heard English spoken only a few times a day. The vast majority of languages spoken were either Chinese, Indian, Israeli, or other languages I could not recognize. Years ago when I worked at Intel another time and travelled frequently to Intel’s offices around the world the employees in those office are instructed to only speak English when a non-native speaker is in the room. Now they don’t even speak English in America. My manager recently told me how she was instructed to hire a woman or a minority for an open requisition … and if she did she could still keep her open req to hire another person. She told me the message clearly was ”if you don’t hire a white guy you can still hire anyone else and still hire the white guy”. A friend who has been a manager at Intel for over 15 years told me this story last week. She had an opening and requested resumes from HR. They sent her 5 resumes all from immigrants. She interviewed them all and selected one and rejected the others. HR came back and told her to hire a 2nd one from the stack and it would not be charged against her department. In fact they told which one to hire. Then they gave her immigration paperwork to sign that said she could not find a qualified local candidate. She told me she refused to sign because she had not been allowed to consider any local candidates. I found a copy of Intel’s “diversity” plan. It is attached to this email. It gives managers wide latitude to hire non-white males. Note: the “silver bullet” (Document is included here: Intel Hiring Doc) Out of curiosity I looked up the org charts for some of Intel’s foreign offices. There are almost no American names listed yet if you look at American org charts you see significant numbers of immigrant names. It is not an exaggeration that the racial and cultural makeup at Intel does not reflect that of the community that has granted Intel vast tax advantages. Those of us who have given years of quality service to Intel are the first to be pushed out. Then they take every advantage of immigration policies passed in no small measure on falsehoods manufactured by those who benefit from those policies. We give them tax advantages based on promises to hire locally. After they get the tax advantage they lie that they cannot hire locally. So our children are the children of no longer working poor who cannot get jobs because immigrants are deemed better qualified. The best jobs I have ever had have been with Intel. But what they are doing is just wrong and illegal and are hurting Oregon and Oregon families. I am a 7th generation Oregonian. I am ex military and my father is a Normandy veteran. I am culturally invested in America and the US. These manufactured diversity plans are engineering populations that do not other wise exist. Creating advantages for people from other countries at my expense and justifying those advantages with lies. Someone needs to expose this criminal behavior that is hurting so many people in Oregon. Intel’s plan all sounds very reasonable. But what they are doing is bringing in people based not on merit but on attributes that have nothing what so ever to do with engineering or qualifications. Race, sex, and national origin. Who are the racists and sexists now? It is not the job of Intel to engineer racial diversity in the community at large. That is what they are doing. That is not why they were given tax advantages. So, what do you think? No surprise to you? We, the people of Oregon via our legislature, have given very large tax breaks and incentives to Intel, but are those coming at a high price to Oregon in the way of no jobs for Oregonians? Intel has literaly bought Hillsboro Oregon, the bulldozers never stop to biuld more corporate condos for Illegal Aliens to Steal our Jobs, our land, our peace.
Bill Gates did the same thing to Bellevue Washington in the 90's and now Bellevue is about half forigen nationals who have displaced natives from jobs and housing.
