Illegal Drunk Mexican leaves man to die on side of road, but no referral to ICE for deportation
BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -
An off-duty Clark County EMT acted quickly to help a motorcycle rider involved in a hit-and-run collision.
Scott Taube said he was on his way home after celebrating his daughter's 18th birthday when he watched a pickup slam into a motorcycle while trying to turn left onto SW 139th from Tualatin Valley Highway, then keep going for about 200 feet. Taube stopped immediately and ran to help the driver of the pickup, who was closest to him.
"The vehicle was still moving, ever so slightly," said Taube. "The door was open and there was nobody in there, so it appeared he fled the scene right away."
Taube then turned his attention to the man on the motorcycle, who had been thrown nearly 30 feet from the point of impact.
"He was in pretty bad shape. He was obviously unconscious. He was not breathing very well at all," said Taube.
Taube waited with the man until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital.
Beaverton Police officers later located the driver of the pickup, identified as 33-year-old Oscar Bravo, hiding inside a car parked at a nearby mobile home park, and arrested him on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
The motorcycle rider, whose name has not yet been released, is still in intensive care, but is expected to survive.
