Woodburn man in critical condition after being hit by car Woodburn Police - 08/18/13 WOODBURN - On Aug. 17 at about 10:16 p.m., Woodburn Police Officers responded to call of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in the 600 block of North Pacific Highway, in Woodburn. Investigators learned an SUV struck a pedestrian, who it appears was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk. The pedestrian, Rafael Mendoza-Juarez, 53, of Woodburn, was transported by LifeFlight to OHSU. He is listed in critical but stable condition. The driver of the vehicle, Jorge Gutierrez Medina, 46, of Phoenix, Ariz., remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. He was later arrested for DUII and assault 2. Hubbard police and Marion County Multi-Agency Crash Reconstruction Team assisted the Woodburn Police Department at the scene. The WPD is asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information about the crash, to contact Officer Josh Rains at 503-982-2345.
